Combining these Rounders Schemes of Work alongside the Lesson Plans (KS3 & KS4) helps to deliver, teach and develop a student::

  • To be able to perform the basic Rounders skills of Receiving, Intercepting, Throwing, Batting, and Bowling to incorporate these into small-sided games. 
  • To understand and know how to perform these skills and where these are used on a Rounders pitch. 
  • To understand and know the simple laws used in the game of Rounders and how players score runs and umpire. 
  • Throughout the phases students are constantly asked how to outwit opponents; evaluate performances; analyse strengths and weaknesses; whilst developing, adapting and refining skills, strategies and tactics to produce high levels of performance and high-quality techniques.
  • To perform, develop and incorporate the skills of Receiving, One-handed intercepting, Long Barrier, Throwing, Batting, Running between the bases, Calling, Backstop and Bowling in Rounders. To use their knowledge and understanding to perform, refine and adapt these skills and other skills with precision, accuracy, fluency and clarity in any situation.  
  • To perform, develop and incorporate the skills of throwing, catching and retrieving on the move, Bowling and Backstop.
  • To also have a developing knowledge and understanding of tactical and positional play within the game of Rounders, which will enable them to start to plan when playing competitive games. 
  • To also be able to recognise the importance of responding to changing situations within the game in attack and defence.  
  • To perform, develop and incorporate the skills of throwing, catching and retrieving on the move, Bowling, Backstop.
  • To also have a developing knowledge and understanding of tactical and positional play within the game of Rounders, which will enable them to start to plan when playing competitive games. 
  • To also be able to recognise the importance of responding to changing situations within the game in attack and defence.
